Welcome to my corner of the world. As a young Christian woman, I often find myself thinking how God has blessed me.
I have the most wonderful family. I am grateful to have a dad and mom who love each other and who have been my guiding light teaching me from birth how to live a godly life. I have, and always will be a daddy's girl. He has taught me what sort of husband I need to look for as well as how I should raise my children one day. For this, I will ever be grateful for as choosing my life partner is the second biggest decision I will ever have to make. My mom, she has taught me how to be a godly wife. Showing kindness, humility, proverbs 31:20 comes to mind "she extends her hands to the poor, yes, she reaches out to the needy." I can most definitely rise up and call her blessed. I have 2 younger brothers. Let me just tell you, I think they rock. I absolutely love them to bits. My life would have not been the same with out them, they too are strong in the faith, leading the congregation in what ever needs to be done. They are an encouragement and I think I need to make it more clear to them how thankful I am for all they do. I have two adopted sisters, who are a constant reminder of even though we live in an ungodly world, we still strive to be what God wants us to be. I also have a 3 year old niece {she belongs to one of my sisters} and I just love her to bits! She is a little ray of sunshine!
Then there is the church where I meet at. The people who meet with us come from all different walks of life(Jam 2:1-13), we are different colours and different ages and yet, through Christ I have the privilege of calling these people my brothers and sisters. Some of these brothers and sisters travel a long way to worship with us. It is always encouraging to see these faces, the effort they put into coming to worship our Lord never goes unnoticed.
I have a beautiful friendship circle. Ranging from my cousin and her baby who live pretty close to me as well as the rest of my cousins who are spread out all over South Africa and the rest of the world, to my friends here in Cape Town. I have learnt to appreciate so many different ladies and each one of my girlfriends has taught me different qualities in life.
I was blessed enough to live in North Carolina for 2 years where I worshipped with the Walnut Street church of Christ. I am so honored and blessed to have met such Godly people who influenced my life in the biggest and smallest ways. I will FOREVER hold these friendships in my heart. They helped me grow as an individual in Christ. My faith is stronger because of the way each and every person encouraged me to spread my wings in Christ(Is 40:31), to lean on Him as He will make my path straight(Ps 3:5-6). I love you all so much.
We have 4 dogs at home, one belongs to me. She was rescued out of the townships where she had no home, no food and was left outside in the middle of winter to die after having puppies who were snatched away from her to be sold for drugs. She wasn't even a year old when this happened. Nonetheless, her life has turned around and she now lives in the lap of luxury. They say that it is not the human that rescued the dog but the dog who rescued the human... That rings true with Misty and I. I too, was going through a rough patch in life, like we all do, and when I saw Misty I just knew she was there to help me out. So, my pooch is so very special to me. One of the biggest lessons I have so far learnt from her is no matter where you have come from and how people have treated you, YOU need to find a reason to wag your tail, no one else is going to wag your tail for you.
Of course I am also very blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world where we have the majestic mountains and the rolling seas which carry out the most beautiful colours, again all reminders of what an awesome Creator we have... I have a job, in the field I love, I have a home, a car and clothes to put on my back. I also never take for granted that every day I get to full my belly with food...
Above all these things, I am blessed to call Jesus Christ my Savior, my Redeemer, my Brother and my Friend. He's my Consoler, Prince of Peace, my Shield and my Strength.
And through Him, I am able to call God, my Heavenly Father.
I do realize that there are many other blessings in my life, and each day I am either reminded of blessings or I find new blessings to be grateful for, but for now, these are the main blessings that influence my life :)
I go through life looking for the positives in every situation. It has taken practice to get where I am today, and I still need to work on it. But my new life goal is being a woman described in Proverbs 31. I want to get to heaven and meet all the men and women God has let us learn about and be able to say "thank you for being an example (in whatever way they were an example)" but I can't do that if I don't study the Word of God... I need to live and breathe the scriptures. Let it be my light and lead me... And through all of it, I want to write my journey here and learn from it as well as let it be an encouragement to all of you.
I would love to hear how God has blessed you in your life.
Love, Trace.
Ps: Welcome to my life :) <3
